La Marquesa is one of the Costa Blanca's most established courses, having opened in the early 1990s during the boom that transformed the Vega Baja del Segura — the flat, sun-drenched lowlands south of Alicante — into one of Europe's busiest retirement and golf destinations. The course sits within a large residential community in Rojales, a small town straddling the Segura River, and it shares the area with a cluster of other layouts that collectively draw year-round traffic from northern European visitors and expats who have made this corner of southern Valencia their home.
The design works with terrain that is essentially flat but uses mature palms, citrus, and Mediterranean plantings to create definition and visual interest between holes. Water comes into play on several holes, and the layout rewards accuracy over raw power — a characteristic that suits the mixed-ability field it typically hosts.
Rojales sits inland from Torrevieja and Guardamar del Segura, about 30 minutes from Alicante airport, making La Marquesa genuinely convenient for golf-holiday itineraries built around the Costa Blanca's reliable sunshine and mild winters.
