Koronis Hills Golf Club takes its name from Lake Koronis, the large glacial lake that anchors the landscape around Paynesville in central Minnesota's Stearns County. This part of the state is classic lake-country terrain — rolling moraines left behind by retreating glaciers, stands of oak and birch, and the kind of wide-open midwestern sky that makes even a modest course feel expansive. Paynesville itself is a small agricultural community about 90 miles west of the Twin Cities, sitting in a region where golf is a genuine seasonal ritual rather than a year-round luxury.
As a community-serving club in a rural Minnesota town, Koronis Hills likely functions as the social and recreational hub it almost certainly is for locals and lake-area visitors alike — the kind of place where regulars know every bounce and break, and where summer tee times fill up with families and weekend regulars as much as serious competitors.
The par-71 layout signals at least one par-5 or par-3 departure from a conventional par-72 configuration, giving the course a slightly distinct personality on the scorecard even before you tee it up.
