Glenwood Springs Golf Club sits at the confluence of the Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers, deep in a canyon corridor where the mountains don't so much frame the course as enclose it. This is one of Colorado's most dramatically situated layouts — the red rock walls of Glenwood Canyon rise nearby, and the surrounding terrain gives the course a character that no mountain resort can manufacture. Playing here, elevation and thin air are real factors, and the ball will carry farther than you're used to at sea level.
The club itself is one of the older and more storied facilities on Colorado's Western Slope, a genuine community course rather than a resort showpiece. That history shows in the layout's personality — it's a working golf course that rewards local knowledge, shaped by the landscape rather than imposed upon it.
Glenwood Springs the town is worth knowing: a hot springs destination since the 1880s, famously the final resting place of Doc Holliday, and a gateway to some of the most spectacular scenery in the American West. The golf here fits that setting honestly.
