Kurk Golf occupies a stretch of the Finnish countryside near Evitskog, a small locality in the Raasepori municipality of western Uusimaa. This is a region of dense boreal forest, granite outcroppings, and quiet agricultural land close to the Gulf of Finland coastline — terrain that shapes golf here in ways no architect entirely controls. The light in summer is extraordinary, with rounds possible well into the evening under skies that never fully darken, while the short season concentrates the local golf community and gives clubs like this a warmth of atmosphere that courses in milder climates rarely match.
Kurk Golf is a members' club with a genuine local following in a part of Finland that sits between Helsinki's gravitational pull to the east and the older Swedish-speaking coastal communities to the west. The bilingual character of the Raasepori area — Finnish and Finland-Swedish — runs through the social fabric of golf here as much as anywhere else in the region.
Without overstating what the scorecard alone confirms, Kurk reads as a course built on honest, manageable ground that rewards its regulars and offers visiting golfers a genuine taste of southern Finnish club golf rather than a polished resort experience.
