Long before the Phoenix metro sprawled southward, Francisco Grande was already drawing golfers to the Sonoran Desert along the I-10 corridor between Phoenix and Tucson. The resort has roots in the 1960s, when it was developed as a spring training destination — the San Francisco Giants used Casa Grande as their preseason home for years, and the property's retro, swooping main building remains a striking piece of mid-century Arizona architecture that sets the tone before you even reach the first tee.
