Golf de Feucherolles

Few regions in France have a richer golf heritage than the Yvelines, the département immediately west of Paris that gave the world Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche and Morfontaine's southern neighbors. Golf de Feucherolles sits in this storied pocket of the Île-de-France, in the gentle plateau country between Versailles and the Seine valley — rolling agricultural land punctuated by woodland that makes for naturally varied, visually attractive terrain. The course opened in 1987 and was designed by American architect Cabell B. Robinson, who brought a clean, strategic sensibility to the layout rather than the artificial drama some continental courses of that era indulged in.

Robinson's design rewards thoughtful play over brute force. The routing moves comfortably through open parkland and tighter tree-lined corridors, with water features coming into play on several holes and well-contoured greens that demand accurate approaches. The course has earned a solid reputation among Parisian golfers as a genuine test without being punishing for mid-handicappers.

The setting amplifies the experience. Feucherolles is a quiet rural commune despite sitting barely 30 kilometers from central Paris, giving the club an air of retreat that bigger, more celebrated neighbors sometimes sacrifice for prestige.
