Few clubs in the New York metropolitan area carry as much quiet prestige as Bonnie Briar Country Club. Founded in 1921, the club occupies a rolling, tree-lined property in Larchmont, a prosperous village on Long Island Sound in Westchester County — one of the most storied counties for golf in the entire country. The course was designed by Tom Winton and has aged gracefully into the landscape, its fairways shaded by mature hardwoods and its layout shaped by the natural contours of the Westchester terrain.
Bonnie Briar holds a notable place in golf history as the club where Glenna Collett Vare, widely regarded as the greatest American female amateur of the early 20th century, learned the game under the influence of the club's community. The course plays to a par of 71, which already signals that this is not a layout built on brute length — precision and course management reward the thoughtful player far more than power.
