Few golf venues in eastern China can claim a backdrop quite like this one. 观蠡湖高尔夫俱乐部 — Guan Li Hu Golf Club — sits alongside Li Lake (蠡湖), a scenic inlet of the larger Lake Taihu on the western edge of Wuxi. The lake takes its name from Fan Li, the legendary Yue Kingdom advisor who, according to ancient lore, retreated here with the beauty Xi Shi after helping defeat the state of Wu. Playing here means moving through a landscape layered with genuine history, where the water views are constant and the humid, subtropical air softens the light in a way that feels distinctly Jiangnan.
Wuxi itself is one of the wealthiest cities in Jiangsu, a manufacturing and technology hub that has quietly built a solid private golf scene over the past two decades. Courses in this region tend to cater to corporate memberships and business entertainment, emphasizing well-maintained presentation and a polished club experience.
Li Lake's shoreline setting means wind off the water is a real variable, and the views across the surface toward distant hills give the round an unhurried, contemplative quality that distinguishes it from more landlocked layouts in the region.
