Conway sits a few miles inland from the Myrtle Beach coastline, which means the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University exists in a different world from the resort-corridor courses that dominate Horry County's golf identity. This is a university layout — home course to the Chanticleers' competitive golf program — and it carries the focused, purposeful character that comes with that role. It's a place where collegiate players grind through practice rounds and where the game is taken seriously at a level most resort tracks don't require.
The South Carolina Lowcountry sets the stage: flat terrain, tall Carolina pines, and the kind of humid, heavy air that makes the ball behave differently than it does inland.
