Buninyong sits at the foot of an extinct volcano of the same name, just south of Ballarat in the Victorian goldfields — one of Australia's most historically rich inland regions. The town itself was among the first settled during the 1850s gold rush, and the golf club reflects that same deep-rooted community character you find throughout this part of central Victoria. At around 450 metres above sea level, the course plays in a cooler, more temperate climate than Melbourne, with distinct seasons and the kind of fresh air that makes a winter round feel genuinely bracing.
