Few stretches of the Northumberland coast feel as exposed and elemental as the ground around Seahouses, where the wind rolls in off the North Sea with little to interrupt it and the Farne Islands sit on the horizon like a distant congregation. The village itself is a working fishing port — lobster pots, harbour walls, boat trips to see the puffins — and the golf club carries that same unpretentious, community character. This is golf rooted firmly in its place.
With a par of 67, the course plays shorter by design, but any notion of an easy afternoon evaporates the moment the breeze picks up, which along this coastline it almost always does. Links-style conditions demand creativity and course management over brute force, and the flat coastal light can make judging distance genuinely tricky.
Seahouses represents the kind of club that exists across the British Isles but is increasingly rare — affordable, friendly, and entirely without pretension, offering genuine seaside golf in one of England's most quietly spectacular coastal settings.
