Opened in 1970 and designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge — the prolific Australian-American partnership responsible for dozens of celebrated layouts across the Sun Belt — Colony West in Tamarac was for decades one of Broward County's marquee public golf destinations. The property hosts 2 courses, and the Glades course is the shorter, more approachable of the pair, built around a par-63 format that rewards precision and course management over raw power.
Tamarac sits in the flat, canal-laced interior of Broward County, where the landscape is defined by water, palm hammocks, and the particular quality of light that makes late-afternoon rounds here feel unhurried despite the heat. The Glades layout works within that terrain honestly — water comes into play regularly, and the Florida rough has a way of punishing anything offline.
