Cebu's interior highlands have long supported a quieter, more contemplative style of golf than the resort-facing layouts that line the island's coastlines, and Mercedes Plantation Golf and Country Club belongs firmly to that tradition. Set in Medellin, a municipality in the northern reaches of Cebu province, the course occupies agricultural countryside where the air is noticeably cooler and the pace of life runs at a different rhythm than in Cebu City or the busy Mactan corridor to the south.
The plantation in the club's name is not merely decorative — the land carries the character of an estate property, with the kind of mature vegetation and considered landscaping that only comes with time and private stewardship. As a members-only club, it operates without the transactional energy of a resort or daily-fee venue; the membership culture here is essentially communal, a circle of regulars who know the course's tendencies intimately across seasons.
Northern Cebu receives its share of weather from the Pacific, and the course's conditioning and playability shift meaningfully between the wetter and drier months — something any visitor arranging a rare guest round should factor in.
