Aztec sits in the northwest corner of New Mexico, where the San Juan River cuts through high desert country and the landscape feels genuinely remote — red rock formations, juniper and piñon scattered across the terrain, and the kind of wide-open sky that makes you recalibrate your sense of scale. Hidden Valley GC is a public course serving a community where golf has to compete with fishing the San Juan — one of the premier tailwater trout fisheries in the Southwest — and outdoor recreation of every kind.
