Tom Weiskopf designed this course, which opened in 2008 as the centerpiece of Puerto Cancún's upscale marina and residential development on the northern edge of the city. Weiskopf brought his signature approach — generous fairways framed by strategic bunkering, with an emphasis on ground game variety and clear risk-reward choices — to a site that makes the most of its coastal lagoon setting. Several holes play along or across water features connected to the Caribbean ecosystem, and the combination of sea breezes and tropical heat means conditions shift meaningfully through the day.
Cancún's golf scene tends toward resort spectacle, but Puerto Cancún occupies a slightly different niche: a private residential club experience within a dense urban master plan, more neighborhood than destination resort. The mangrove-lined edges and lagoon views give it a sense of natural character that the hotel-zone courses, built on narrower strips of land, rarely achieve.
For visiting golfers, the warm weather is consistent year-round, though the summer months bring humidity and the occasional tropical downpour that can reshape an afternoon round entirely.
