Prince George's County has long been one of the more underappreciated corners of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan golf landscape, and Woodmore sits at the top of that conversation. The Country Club at Woodmore is a private facility in Mitchellville — an affluent suburb in the county's eastern reaches — that has earned a genuine reputation as one of the stronger members' clubs in the greater Capital region. The course was designed by Tom Fazio and opened in the early 1990s, bringing his signature blend of dramatic shaping, strategic bunkering, and immaculate conditioning to a site with enough rolling terrain to give the routing real variety and visual interest.
Fazio's hand is evident throughout: generous fairways that reward thoughtful positioning over raw power, greens complexes with subtle but punishing contours, and a visual polish that makes the property feel consistently refined from the first tee to the last.
The membership reflects the surrounding community — accomplished, competitive, and proud of what they've built. As a private club, Woodmore is not a place most golfers will simply stumble into, but its standing in the D.C. area is well established among those who know the regional scene.
