Few courses in the American West announce themselves quite like Arrowhead. Built into the dramatic red rock formations south of Denver, the course occupies terrain where ancient geology does most of the design work — towering sandstone outcroppings frame fairways, force carries, and create backdrops that stop first-time visitors mid-swing. The layout earned its reputation as one of Colorado's most visually striking courses, and Robert Trent Jones Jr. shaped the routing to work with, rather than against, the land's natural drama.
Littleton sits at the edge of the Denver metro area where the Front Range foothills begin their abrupt rise from the plains, and Arrowhead captures that transitional landscape fully. The altitude and Colorado's famously dry, sunny climate mean the ball flies and conditions tend to run firm and fast — local knowledge matters here more than the yardage suggests.
The par-70 layout plays shorter than many championship tracks but demands precision over power. Between the elevation, the wind that funnels through the rock formations, and the sheer visual distraction of the scenery, scoring proves more elusive than any number on a scorecard would prepare you for.
