Few courses in the Ottawa Valley carry the institutional weight of Larrimac Golf Club, which has been part of the Gatineau Hills landscape since the early 20th century. Perched in the municipality of Chelsea just across the Quebec border from Ottawa, it occupies terrain shaped by the Precambrian Shield — rocky outcroppings, mature hardwood forest, and the kind of dramatic elevation changes that no architect could manufacture from flat ground. The result is a layout that demands creativity and course management over raw power, rewarding players who can work the ball and think their way around a hillside.
Chelsea sits within Gatineau Park, one of Canada's most beloved natural preserves, and the fall colours here are genuinely spectacular — making an autumn round as much a visual experience as a competitive one. The club draws heavily from the Ottawa-Gatineau golf community, a market large enough to sustain serious private golf culture year-round.
At par 70, Larrimac is not a course that flatters distance. The terrain keeps scores honest, and the membership tends to like it that way.
