Few stretches of Irish coastline have hosted golf as long as this one. Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club traces its roots to 1909, making it one of the older clubs on the Leinster coast, and the links it occupies along the Meath shoreline has shaped generations of local golfers. The course sits on genuine duneland between the villages of Laytown and Bettystown, where the Irish Sea sets the mood — and the wind — for everything that follows.
This is a traditional links in the truest sense: firm, fast, and entirely at the mercy of whatever the weather decides to bring in off the water. The ground game matters here. Bump-and-run routes that look absurd on paper become the intelligent play, and the subtle borrows on the greens reward repeat visits. It is the kind of course that reveals itself slowly.
Bettystown itself is a quiet seaside town about 45 minutes north of Dublin, and the club carries that unhurried, community character. This is everyday links golf — unpretentious, honest, and genuinely enjoyable.
