Omak sits in the heart of the Okanogan Valley, one of Washington's most dramatically arid interior landscapes — a world away from the rain-soaked courses of the Puget Sound side. Here, the terrain runs to sagebrush-covered hillsides, ponderosa pine, and a high desert palette that makes the irrigated green of a fairway feel almost startling against the surrounding countryside. The Okanogan River corridor shapes this corner of north-central Washington, and the valley's wide, open character tends to find its way onto courses built within it.
Okanogan Valley Golf Club is a full 18-hole layout serving a community that takes its golf seriously despite — or perhaps because of — its remote setting. Regional courses like this one often reward shot-making and course management over raw power, where local knowledge about wind patterns and firm, fast conditions can be worth several strokes to a newcomer.
Omak is best known for the controversial Omak Stampede, held each August, which means summer weekends carry a particular energy in this small city. For visiting golfers, the Okanogan Valley offers a genuinely different side of Washington golf — drier, quieter, and anchored in the working landscape of the state's interior.
