Västervik sits on the southeastern Swedish coast where Småland meets the Baltic, a region defined by granite skerries, sheltered inlets, and the extraordinary archipelago that draws boaters and summer visitors from across the country. Lysingsbadets golfklubb takes its name from Lysingsbadet, the popular outdoor bathing and recreation area that has been a local landmark for generations — the course shares that unhurried, summery character that defines leisure life along this stretch of the Östergötland border coast.
The layout occupies terrain typical of coastal Småland: relatively open ground punctuated by rocky outcrops, pine and birch stands, and the occasional glimpse toward the water. It plays as a community-oriented club rather than a destination resort, the kind of place where members know each other by name and visiting golfers are welcomed into that same relaxed atmosphere.
Västervik's archipelago counts over 5,000 islands, and the light here in summer — long, golden, and low — gives even a casual afternoon round a quality that photographs poorly but stays with you.
