Golfplatz Samedan

Few golf courses in Europe demand as much respect from the atmosphere alone. Samedan sits at roughly 1,750 meters above sea level in the Upper Engadin valley, making it one of the highest-altitude golf courses on the continent — and the thin air, brilliant light, and panoramic views of the Bernina massif and surrounding Alpine peaks create playing conditions unlike anything at lower elevations. The ball flies noticeably farther here, which catches first-time visitors off guard, and the short Engadin summer concentrates the season into a relatively tight window, typically late spring through early autumn.

The course occupies the valley floor beside the Inn River, with the broad, flat meadows of the Engadin providing a surprisingly links-like openness framed by dramatic mountain walls. Wind funnels through the valley unpredictably, turning modest-looking holes into genuine tests.

Samedan itself is a quiet, historic village just a few kilometers from St. Moritz, the storied resort town that has defined Alpine luxury for over a century. The golf club is one of Switzerland's oldest, giving it a particular institutional character that rewards members and returning visitors alike.
