Porto Alegre Country Club is one of the oldest and most storied private clubs in Brazilian golf, with roots stretching back to the early 20th century when British and European immigrants helped establish the sport in Rio Grande do Sul. The club has long served as a social and athletic anchor for Porto Alegre's most traditional families, and its golf course carries that same sense of quiet prestige — a layout that rewards course management and local knowledge over raw power.
The course sits within Brazil's southernmost major city, a region whose climate and culture set it distinctly apart from the tropical stereotype of the country. Porto Alegre enjoys four genuine seasons, and the course reflects that: cooler winters, lush fairways shaped by meaningful rainfall, and a landscape that feels closer to the temperate pampas than to anything farther north. The vegetation and turf conditions here have a character all their own.
Access is strictly members and guests, and the atmosphere is unhurried and deeply traditional. This is a club where golf is taken seriously but played without pretension — the kind of place where the 19th hole matters as much as the 1st tee.
