Grafarholtsvöllur

Few places on earth let you play golf under the midnight sun quite like Reykjavík, and Grafarholtsvöllur — the home course of Grafarholt Golf Club — has been central to Icelandic golf since the club's founding in 1963. Sitting on the eastern edge of the capital, the layout occupies a lava-formed landscape softened by decades of cultivation, with the moss-covered volcanic ground and subarctic grasses giving the course a texture and color unlike anything in mainland Europe. The Esja mountain and the broad sweep of Kollafjörður bay form a backdrop that makes even a routine iron shot feel cinematic.

Iceland's golfing season is compressed but intense, roughly May through October, and Grafarholt draws a loyal local membership who pack the course during the long summer days when tee times stretch well past 10 p.m. in natural light.
