Pitcheroak sits in Redditch's Arrow Valley Park, a broad green corridor running through a town that grew rapidly in the postwar era as one of Britain's designated New Towns. The course occupies genuine parkland — mature trees, open fairways, and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that municipal golf in the English Midlands does particularly well. Arrow Valley itself is a well-used public space, and Pitcheroak is very much part of that civic fabric: accessible, unpretentious, and genuinely welcoming to golfers of all levels.
At par 67, this is a layout built around short par 4s and a collection of par 3s that reward precision over power. That makes it an excellent venue for beginners and high-handicappers, but experienced players who enjoy working the ball into tight targets will find enough here to stay engaged. The course asks you to think your way around rather than overpower it.
Redditch has a quietly underrated sporting culture, and Pitcheroak reflects the town's straightforward character — no pretension, just good honest golf in a pleasant setting that the local community has clearly made its own over many decades.
