Few Irish parkland courses can claim the backdrop that Faithlegg enjoys: the estate grounds of a Georgian country house hotel, set on the wooded banks of the River Suir just a few miles from Waterford city. Designed by Patrick Merrigan and opened in 1993, the course makes full use of mature trees, undulating terrain, and the quiet drama of tidal water to produce one of the southeast's most atmospheric rounds. It isn't the longest test in Ireland, but Merrigan's routing rewards patience and course management over raw power.

Waterford is one of Ireland's oldest cities — a Viking settlement with more than a millennium of history — and that sense of deep time carries into the landscape around Faithlegg. The Suir estuary is visible from several holes, and the estate's oak and beech woodland gives the course a sheltered, almost private feel across all four seasons.
