The Golf Course at Port El Kantaoui stands as one of Tunisia's most recognized golfing addresses, developed alongside the purpose-built resort of Port El Kantaoui in the late 1970s and early 1980s as part of a grand ambition to establish the Tunisian coast as a Mediterranean leisure destination. The course was designed by Ronald Fream, whose work here leaned into the natural coastal topography, routing holes through undulating terrain with mature olive and eucalyptus trees framing the fairways and giving the layout a distinctly North African character. It has long served as the flagship course for the resort and drawn international visitors making Port El Kantaoui their base.

Hammamet Sousse sits along the Gulf of Hammamet, where the climate is warm and dry for much of the year, making golf a genuine year-round pursuit. Sea breezes from the Mediterranean arrive unpredictably and shift club selection on exposed stretches of the course, adding a layer of challenge that the scorecard cannot capture.

For many visitors, this is their introduction to golf in the Maghreb — a region with a richer golfing tradition than outsiders expect, shaped partly by French colonial influence and sustained by a steady flow of European tour operators for whom Tunisia has long been a winter escape.
