Garland Lodge & Resort has been one of northern Michigan's most celebrated golf destinations since the 1960s, operating across multiple courses on a sprawling property in the Lewiston area of Oscoda County. The resort's courses — Reflections, Swampfire, Monarch, and Fountains — each have their own personality, designed and refined over the decades to take full advantage of the property's mix of dense hardwood forest, wetlands, and the rolling terrain characteristic of Michigan's Lower Peninsula interior. Swampfire, perhaps the most talked-about of the quartet, threads through wetlands and timber in a way that demands both accuracy and nerve.
This part of Michigan is serious golf country. The region sits within easy reach of Gaylord's celebrated "Treetops" corridor and the broader northern Michigan golf belt, which draws players from across the Midwest every summer and fall when the hardwoods turn.
