Southern Highlands Golf Club occupies a stretch of the southwestern Las Vegas Valley, in the master-planned community of the same name near the Spring Mountains. It's a private, members-only club — a deliberate counterpoint to the strip-resort golf spectacles the city is better known for — and it carries the quieter, more serious atmosphere of a course built for people who actually live here and play regularly rather than for weekend visitors.
The club was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and opened in 2000, with a layout that moves through the high desert terrain south of the city. Jones worked with the natural contours of the Mojave landscape, and the course is known for its mature presentation, strategic bunkering, and the kind of measured difficulty that rewards shot-shaping over raw power. It has earned consistent recognition among Nevada's top private courses.
Playing here means being genuinely away from the casino corridor — the Spring Mountains form a real visual backdrop, the air sits a few degrees cooler than the valley floor, and the pace has the unhurried rhythm of a club where members know each other by name.
