Few mountain golf courses in Canada carry quite the same backdrop as Canmore Golf Club. Situated in the Bow Valley at the foot of the Canadian Rockies, the course plays through terrain shaped by glaciers, with the Three Sisters peaks rising dramatically to the south and Ha Ling Peak commanding the skyline to the north. That scenery is genuinely world-class, but the golf itself holds up — the layout threads along the Bow River corridor and demands real shot-making, particularly when the valley's notorious afternoon winds funnel through and turn routine approaches into genuine tests of club selection.
Canmore itself is a vibrant mountain town about 20 minutes east of Banff, drawing visitors who come for hiking, climbing, and skiing at Nakiska, but increasingly for golf as well. The club has a semi-private character that feels genuinely welcoming rather than exclusive, with a membership rooted in the local community.
The high elevation and cool mountain air mean the ball flies farther than you'd expect, and the season is compressed but intense — typically running May through October, when the Rockies are at their most spectacular.
