Golf Club Carimate

Few courses in northern Italy carry the pedigree of Golf Club Carimate. Founded in 1962 and designed by John Harris, the British architect responsible for several distinguished European layouts, it occupies the grounds of the historic Castello di Carimate — a medieval castle whose towers and walls form an unforgettable backdrop throughout the round. The combination of genuine history and considered design has made Carimate one of the most respected clubs in Lombardy, and it has hosted Italian Open championships that placed it firmly on the European tour map.

The course itself winds through mature parkland on the rolling foothills between Milan and Lake Como, with centuries-old trees framing tight fairways and lending the property an almost aristocratic calm. Harris's routing rewards patience and accuracy over raw power, and the approach to several holes along the castle boundary demands both nerve and precision.
