Six Mile sits in the northwestern corner of South Carolina, where the Blue Ridge foothills fold down toward Lake Keowee and the Jocassee Gorges — one of the most quietly spectacular landscapes in the American Southeast. The Cliffs is a collection of private, amenity-driven communities spread across this corner of upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina, and Keowee Springs is one of several courses anchoring that network. Members here are playing golf in genuine mountain-lake country, with the kind of elevation changes and long views that the Piedmont flatlands simply can't offer.
Tom Fazio designed the course, and it shows — Keowee Springs carries the hallmarks of his work: graceful routing through natural terrain, strategic bunkering, and greens complexes that reward thoughtful shot-making over raw power. The Blue Ridge backdrop and the proximity to Lake Keowee give the property a visual drama that earns its place among the more memorable private settings in the Carolinas.
The surrounding area is unhurried and sparsely developed, which only adds to the sense of remove. For members of The Cliffs communities, Keowee Springs is less a standalone destination than part of a broader lifestyle — but the golf course itself holds up on its own terms.
