Holtsmark Golf

Sylling sits in the forested hill country of Buskerud, roughly an hour southwest of Oslo along the Drammenselva river valley — a landscape of dense Norwegian spruce, birch, and rocky outcrops that shapes almost every hole you play here. Holtsmark Golf is a relatively intimate course by Scandinavian standards, operating as a membership club while remaining open to visitors, and its setting feels genuinely remote even though the capital is well within reach.

The course works with the natural contours of the terrain rather than against them, which means uneven lies, elevation changes, and trees that demand shape off the tee. Norwegian summer golf has its own particular quality — long evening light well into July and August, cool temperatures, and firm turf that rewards a thoughtful ground game as much as aerial approach play.
