Few golf clubs carry the same weight of civic history as Shandon Park. Founded in 1926 and situated in east Belfast, the club has long been one of the city's most respected private members' clubs, drawing generations of Belfast golfers to its parkland fairways. The course was designed by Fred Hawtree — a name synonymous with thoughtful, playable parkland architecture across the British Isles — and his work here produces a layout that rewards accuracy and course management rather than raw power.

At par 70, the course plays shorter than many championship layouts but asks real questions. Hawtree's routing uses the land efficiently, and the club has hosted significant Ulster golf events over the decades, cementing its reputation as one of the province's serious members' venues.
