Reisbach is a small market town in Lower Bavaria, tucked into the gentle agricultural lowlands between the Isar and Vils rivers, southeast of Munich. This is quintessential rural Bavaria — rolling farmland, woodlands, and a pace of life that feels a long way from the city, even though Munich's golf culture and its deep roster of serious clubs are only an hour or so up the road.
Golfclub Schlossberg takes its name from the Schlossberg — the "castle hill" — a reference to the kind of historic elevated site that defines so many Bavarian market towns. The course works through a landscape typical of this corner of Lower Bavaria: gentle gradients, mature tree lines, and open parkland stretches that give way to more wooded passages. The setting is unhurried and genuinely scenic in a quiet, pastoral way rather than a dramatic Alpine one.
As a private members' club serving the local and regional golf community, Schlossberg has the character of a course built for serious, regular play — a place where members know every bounce and the seasonal rhythms of a Bavarian parkland course shape the game as much as the design itself.
