Harbour Pointe sits on the Puget Sound shoreline in Mukilteo, a small city perched between Everett and the northern edge of greater Seattle. The course occupies rolling terrain on the bluffs above the water, and on clear days the views stretch across the Sound toward Whidbey Island and the Olympic Mountains — the kind of backdrop that makes a routine bogey feel slightly more forgivable. Mukilteo is best known as a ferry crossing point, and that maritime character bleeds into the whole atmosphere of the place.
The course was designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1991, and it has built a strong local reputation as one of the more scenic and well-regarded daily-fee layouts in the greater Seattle market. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and mature Pacific Northwest tree cover — Douglas fir, cedar, and alder framing fairways in the way that's become characteristic of quality golf in the region.
Because western Washington golf means playing in cool, damp conditions for a good part of the year, Harbour Pointe rewards patience and course management over raw power. The Puget Sound winds can shift the challenge considerably from one round to the next.
