Few golf courses in India carry quite the institutional weight of the Air Force Golf Course in New Delhi. Operated by the Indian Air Force and open primarily to service members, veterans, and their guests, the course sits within the sprawling defence cantonment area of the capital — a world apart from the city's noise and density, shaded by mature trees that have been growing here for decades.
New Delhi has a surprisingly deep golf culture, anchored by the historic Delhi Golf Club with its Mughal-era monuments scattered among the fairways. The Air Force course occupies a quieter corner of that tradition — a well-maintained layout where the game is taken seriously but the atmosphere carries the unhurried ease of a members' club where most people already know each other. The wide canopy cover offers some relief from Delhi's punishing summer heat, though the dry season brings firm, fast conditions that reward ground-game thinking.
For those with access, it offers something increasingly rare in a megacity of this scale: genuine green space, a sense of order, and a round of golf that feels genuinely removed from the capital's relentless pace.
