Maple Downs Golf and Country Club sits in Richmond Hill, one of the communities that makes up the northern edge of the Greater Toronto Area, where the land flattens into the Oak Ridges Moraine corridor and mature deciduous tree canopy defines much of the landscape. The club carries a private, members-first character that sets the tone before you even reach the first tee — this is a place built around belonging to something, not just playing a round.
Richmond Hill and the broader York Region have a deep recreational golf culture, with a concentration of private and semi-private clubs that reflect the area's long-established suburban communities. Maple Downs fits naturally into that tradition, offering members a full country-club experience within a reasonable distance of the city — close enough to be convenient, far enough to feel removed from it.
Fall is when courses like this one genuinely earn their names. When the maples turn, the mix of red, orange, and gold along the fairways makes for some of the most visually rewarding golf in Ontario's short but vivid season.
