Shandon Golf Club

Shandon Golf Club sits on the eastern hills above the Hutt Valley, one of the older clubs in the Wellington region with a history stretching back to the early 20th century. The course occupies rolling terrain that rises into the Remutaka foothills, and the elevation changes give it a distinctly different character from the flat river-plain courses you find further down the valley. Like most Wellington-area golf, the wind is a constant factor — the Cook Strait funnels some of the Southern Hemisphere's most persistent breezes through this corridor, and a calm day at Shandon is genuinely rare and genuinely treasured.
