Horizon Hills Golf Course occupies a striking position within the Horizon Hills township development in Iskandar Puteri — the ambitious planned city that Malaysia has been building along the Johor Strait, directly across from Singapore. Designed by Ross Watson and opened in 2008, the course serves as both a genuine test of golf and the centrepiece of one of Southeast Asia's most integrated golf-and-residential communities. Watson routed the layout across undulating terrain with generous use of water features and well-bunkered greens, giving it a polished resort character while still demanding course management from all levels of player.
The course gained significant international attention by hosting the Johor Open on the Asian Development Tour, cementing its status as one of the more serious tournament venues in the southern Peninsular Malaysia golf corridor. Its conditioning tends to be immaculate, a reflection of the premium property development it anchors.
Iskandar Puteri itself sits at the crossroads of Malaysian and Singaporean golf culture — many members and visitors cross the Causeway specifically to play here, where land, space, and tropical scenery deliver something the island city-state simply cannot replicate.
