Few courses on the Côte d'Azur carry the same weight of history as this one. Riviera Golf Club in Mandelieu-la-Napoule is widely regarded as the oldest golf course on the French Riviera, with roots stretching back to 1891 — making it one of the pioneering clubs in all of continental Europe. The course occupies a striking stretch of land between the Esterel massif's red volcanic hills and the Mediterranean coast, with umbrella pines and cork oaks framing virtually every hole. That combination of ancient rock, sea light, and fragrant scrubland gives the place an atmosphere that is genuinely hard to replicate.

Winter and spring are particularly fine times to play, when the Esterel glows and the worst of the summer heat has not yet arrived.
