La Bichonnière sits in the Sarthe valley countryside of the Orne department, in the heart of Normandy's quiet agricultural interior — a world away from the coastal resort courses of Deauville and Cabourg yet firmly within a region that takes its leisure seriously. Mieuxcé is a small commune just outside Alençon, the prefecture town known for its extraordinary needlepoint lace and its role as a crossroads between Normandy, Maine, and the Perche. The surrounding bocage landscape — hedgerows, rolling pasture, apple orchards — gives courses in this part of France a distinctly rural, unhurried character.
The "rustique" in the name is not false modesty. This is a short, informal layout oriented toward accessible, recreational golf rather than championship ambition, the kind of course where beginners find their footing and regulars play a relaxed weekday round without ceremony.
For visitors passing through the Orne on their way to or from the D-Day coast, or exploring the regional natural park of Normandie-Maine nearby, La Bichonnière offers a low-key round in genuinely pretty Norman countryside — honest golf with no pretension attached.
