Few private clubs on Long Island carry quite the same understated pedigree as Seawane Club, situated along the protected waterways of Hewlett Harbor on the South Shore. The club has deep roots in the mid-20th century Jewish country club tradition that shaped much of Nassau County's social and sporting landscape, offering its members a genuinely private retreat from the density of the surrounding Five Towns communities.
The layout occupies a compact, water-influenced piece of South Shore terrain — the kind of ground where the land lies flat, the wind off the bay can shift a shot several clubs, and precision off the tee matters far more than raw power. Par 72 is a fair target, but the course earns its respect quietly, rewarding members who understand its subtleties over those simply swinging hard.
The Five Towns have long supported a cluster of serious private clubs, and Seawane holds its own in that company. For members, it functions as a genuine community anchor — the sort of place where the golf is good, the relationships run deep, and belonging matters as much as the scorecard.
