Few golf experiences in Austria place you quite so close to motorsport royalty. Golfclub Murtal sits in the shadow of the Red Bull Ring — the famous Formula 1 circuit that has hosted the Austrian Grand Prix since its revival in 2014 — and that proximity shapes the atmosphere in a way no scorecard can capture. The course occupies the Mur Valley in Styria, a region of rolling green hills, alpine meadows, and the kind of crisp central European air that makes an early morning round feel like a reward in itself.
The club draws on a landscape that is genuinely suited to golf: gentle gradients, mature woodland edges, and views toward the Styrian highlands that shift with the seasons. Styria is sometimes called Austria's "green heart," and the terrain here lives up to that description — lush, well-watered, and framed by forested ridgelines that give the course a sense of enclosure without feeling confined.
As a regional club set within a destination known primarily for international motorsport, Murtal occupies an interesting position — serious enough for the committed club golfer, yet accessible to the visitors and racing fans who discover Spielberg from the grandstands rather than the fairways.
