Bonita National Golf Club

Gordon Lewis designed Bonita National Golf Club, which opened in 2016 as part of a gated residential community on the southwestern edge of Bonita Springs. Lewis, a Florida-based architect with deep roots in designing courses that work with the state's flat terrain and water management requirements, crafted a layout that routes through the community's preserve areas and lakes. The result is a course that feels more spacious than many Florida residential designs, with generous fairways framed by natural vegetation rather than houses stacked on every boundary.

Bonita Springs sits in Lee County, just north of Naples in a corridor of Southwest Florida that has become one of the state's most active golf markets. The surrounding landscape is classic low-country Florida — saw palmetto, slash pine, and subtropical scrub — and the region's reliable winter sunshine draws seasonal residents and visitors who can play year-round without the humidity and afternoon storms that define summer here.
