McGuire Air Force Base sits in Burlington County, in the heart of central New Jersey — a region of pine barrens, flat terrain, and the kind of wide-open sky you only get around a major military airfield. Falcon Creek is a military golf course, part of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program that makes golf accessible to active duty personnel, veterans, and their families at rates civilian golfers rarely see. That mission shapes everything about the experience here — this is a place built around the game itself, without the pretense of a private club or the tourist energy of a resort.
Central Jersey's landscape tends toward the flat and wooded, and military courses in this part of the country typically make good use of mature tree lines, open fairways, and whatever natural water features the land provides. A par 71 suggests at least one fewer par 5 or an extra par 3 worked into the routing, giving the course a slightly more varied rhythm than a standard layout.
For anyone with base access, Falcon Creek offers a legitimate 18-hole round in a part of New Jersey that doesn't get much attention from the golf press — which, for regulars, is probably part of the appeal.
