Royal Golf Club Mariánské Lázně

Few golf courses in continental Europe carry a history as rich as this one. The club at Mariánské Lázně was founded in 1905, making it among the oldest in the Czech Republic, and its royal designation reflects genuine aristocratic patronage from the era of the Austro-Hungarian empire. The course occupies the forested hills surrounding the famous spa town — known in German as Marienbad — once a favored retreat for European royalty, statesmen, and composers. King Edward VII was among the town's most devoted visitors, lending the club a connection to British golfing culture at a time when the game was spreading eastward across Europe from Scotland.
