Few American golf courses can claim a setting as dramatic as Edgewood Tahoe's. Positioned right along the southern shore of Lake Tahoe — one of the deepest and most visually stunning alpine lakes in the world — the course sits at roughly 6,200 feet of elevation, where the air is thin, the sky is vivid blue, and the Sierra Nevada mountains frame virtually every shot. George Fazio designed the original layout, which opened in 1968, and his nephew Tom Fazio later refined it. The result is a course that has earned consistent national rankings and a reputation as one of the finest resort tracks in the American West.
Edgewood is perhaps best known as the longtime home of the American Century Championship, the celebrity pro-am that brings professional athletes and entertainers to Tahoe each summer and has become one of the most-watched made-for-television golf events in the country.
The back 9 finishes along the lake's edge in spectacular fashion, with the 18th hole drawing comparisons to Pebble Beach for sheer scenic drama. Water, elevation change, and mountain air make this a course that plays unlike almost anything else in Nevada — or anywhere else.
