Few American cities carry as much atmospheric weight as Savannah — the moss-draped squares, the antebellum architecture, the slow, thick heat that settles over the Georgia coast like something permanent. Golf here isn't just a round; it's an immersion in one of the country's most distinctive places. The Club at Savannah Harbor sits on Hutchinson Island, directly across the Savannah River from the city's famous Historic District, putting downtown's skyline in view from the course.
The layout was designed by Robert Cupp and Sam Snead — an unusual pairing of architect and legend — and opened in 1997 as part of the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort. Coastal Georgia's low, marshy terrain defines the setting: tidal wetlands, wide water views, and the kind of exposed, wind-influenced conditions that make a par 72 play very differently depending on the day. The closing stretch along the river is among the more scenic finishing runs in the region.
For resort golf, Savannah Harbor punches well above its category. It has served as the host venue for the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf Champions Tour event, lending it a competitive pedigree that most resort tracks never see.
