Olympic Valley sits at roughly 6,200 feet in the Sierra Nevada, cradled by the same granite peaks and glacier-carved terrain that hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics — one of the more dramatic addresses any golf course in California can claim. The elevation means longer carry distances, thinner air, and a mountain growing season that typically runs late spring through early fall. When the snow melts off the valley floor, the course opens into a landscape of towering pines and jagged ridgelines that frame nearly every hole.
The Resort at Squaw Creek is the anchor property of what is now known as Palisades Tahoe, the sprawling ski destination that gave the valley its identity. The golf course occupies the valley floor, meaning the terrain is relatively open by Sierra standards, with the surrounding peaks providing the drama rather than severe elevation changes underfoot. The par-71 layout reflects the natural contours of a high-altitude meadow setting.
As a resort course, this is golf meant to complement a broader mountain vacation — accessible enough for a wide range of players, yet surrounded by scenery that makes a triple bogey easier to absorb. The Tahoe region draws visitors year-round, and the golf here earns its place in that rotation.
